Martial Arts Video Games for Kids

If you want your little Taekwondo Animal (i.e. your son or daughter) to get off the couch on a rainy day and to be more active then try out Microsoft's Kinect. This game system tracks your movements without the use of a hand control. Imagine a better Wii. Kinect encourages kids to be more active/physical and use all parts of their bodies. Moreover, Kinect's martial arts video games allow them to practice their kicks & punches. Cool training tool! If you are looking for physical Taekwondo games, please visit this page.

Martial Arts Video Games for Kinect

  • Kung Fu Panda 2 for Kinect - This martial arts computer game allows you to punch, kick and block as The Dragon Warrior (or better known as Po the Kung Fu Panda).
  • Your Shape Fitness Evolved - Game that includes a martial arts fitness class (mainly kick boxing). It also includes other fitness routines (i.e. Yoga). FYI - You can watch yourself on the screen and see if you are doing the movements correctly. Quote from game - "Fitness Evolved gives you precise feedback on your every body part as you follow your coach's instructions and will help you correct your form by adding guidelines to the screen so you know exactly where your arm or leg should be placed and you can see it in real-time".

  • Fighters Uncaged - This game seems to be geared towards older kids & adults. It gets only average reviews on Amazon (3-4 stars). However, you get to practice punches & kicks against a variety of opponents. Quote from game - "Actively use your fists, knees, legs, elbows and even your head to destroy your in-game opponents and defend against them."

  • Or explore some of the other great Kinect games. They will help to get your kid really moving!

Alternative - Wii Games

  • Gold's Gym Cardio Workout - This is basically a boxing workout on the Wii. Work on your punching skills. 4 & 5 star reviews on Amazon.

If you would rather be a couch potato, check out these "regular" best-selling video games. :)
