Taekwondo Books for Kids

Below are some great Taekwondo & martial arts books for kids. I have tried to add a quick review of each book in order to summarize their value to martial arts students. In addition, I have added some of my visitors' favorite martial arts books for children in order to provide you with even more reading ideas.

* You can find many of these martial arts books for children on eBay (lightly used but at great prices) or new at Barnes & Nobleicon.

Taekwondo & Martial Arts Books for Kids

  • Tae Kwon Do! (Step Into Reading) - This Taekwondo book is good for young children (but not very useful for older kids). It helps kids to learn simple reading skills through Taekwondo. Check your library for a copy.

  • Kung Fu Panda - Book version of the highly successful children's movie. The authors have put together a number of early reading books based on Kung Fu Panda.

  • The Karate Mouse - A fun way to practice your reading skills. The hero of this story has only a week to prepare for a karate championship!

  • Julie Black Belt: The Kung Fu Chronicles - Children learn the value of hard work, dedication and determination. Illustrated book. Great for girls taking or thinking about the martial arts!

  • Jojo's Flying Side Kick - This Taekwondo book focuses on a young girl overcoming fear and an upcoming belt test.
  • Taekwondo: The State of the Art (by Master Sung Chul Whang and Master Jun Chul Whang) - This Taekwondo book is well written and covers many topics (i.e. kicks, sparring and stances). The best section focuses on Taekwondo forms (WTF forms 1-8) because the book gives you detailed written instructions and visual aids for each form. It will help you immensely with your child's next belt test. Two thumbs up!
